Hui-O-Judo Beltsville
Coach's Corner
2002
On January 12, Hui-O-Judo hosted their annual
Referee Clinic at the Beltsville Academic Center. A modest
but spirited crowd of several dozen referees and candidates attended,
coming
from as far away as North Carolina, Ohio, and New York. Open lecture
and
video tapes were presented by Sensei Roy Englert (IJF A), as well as
practical
exercise in a mock-shiai. Many thanks to Sensei Englert
On February 16, the Shufu
Yudanshakai Open was held at the Beltsville Academic Center.
A firey crowd of over 100 Juniors, Seniors, and Masters attended for an
excellent competition on 2 mats, making for a long day. Additionally, a
robust audience filled the bleachers and spilled into the hallway.
In March, Hui-O-Judo hosted a
Nage-No-Kata Clinic at the Beltsville Academic Center. Clinicians
were Sensei Peggy Wilden (U.S. Champion of Several Years) and Sensei
Karen
Wilden (Current Pan-Am & U.S. Champion). A group of about 30
juniors
and seniors of all ranks attended. Many thanks to Sensei Wilden
&
Sensei Wilden.
On March 3, 2002, the web services used by
Hui-O-Judo
at Freedom2Serve were discontinued.
After
several years of continuous, reliable, advertisement-free service at no
charge, their business decided to move to a commercial service to
paying
customers. Though the service they now offer is well worth the
highly
competitve price, it is sadly beyond this club's budget.
Hui-O-Judo
would like to thank their former webhost for all the excellent support
& speedy service of thousands of hits from around the world &
would
gladly recommend them to anyone looking for their most excellent
services
and ease of use.
In July, Hui-O-Judo rehosted at 7host.com. We
are most certain that we will be experiencing a similar quality of
service
and excellent reliability. After being off-lan for several
months,.
we will be catching up these pages from notes of the various sensei's
and
your photos -- please help!
